We become more aware of what drains us mentally and emotionally.

And suddenly, the same people who were comfortable with the broken version of us begin acting uncomfortable with the healed version.

Pay attention to that.

As women, many of us were raised to survive hard things quietly. We learned how to carry pressure, trauma, disappointment, heartbreak, anxiety, and exhaustion while still showing up for everybody else with a smile on our face. We became caregivers, encouragers, fixers, and protectors while neglecting ourselves in the process.

Some of us mastered the art of functioning while emotionally depleted.

So when healing begins, it often changes the way we respond to people and situations. Healing causes us to recognize that constantly saying “yes” while drowning internally is not love. Healing teaches us that being available to everyone while abandoning ourselves is not strength.

And honestly? Everybody will not celebrate that version of growth.

→ Some people benefited from us having low self-worth.
→ Some people benefited from us lacking boundaries.
→ Some people benefited from us tolerating disrespect because we were afraid of losing connections.
→ Some people benefited from us being emotionally exhausted because exhausted people are easier to control.

That truth may sting, but it is real.

Have you ever noticed how some people were comfortable when you were struggling, but become distant when you become confident? They were comfortable when you lacked direction, but now your focus irritates them. They loved access to you when you never said no, but now your boundaries suddenly make you “different.”

You are not becoming difficult.
You are becoming healthy.

Healing changes your tolerance level.

You no longer entertain conversations that constantly leave you drained. You no longer feel obligated to explain every decision. You stop feeling guilty for resting. You become more intentional about who has access to your energy, your emotions, your mind, and your heart.

And unfortunately, everybody cannot go where healing is taking you.

Sometimes healing reveals who truly loves us and who only loved the convenience of us. There is a difference.

The people who genuinely care about us will support our emotional wellness. They will not mock our boundaries or make us feel selfish for protecting our peace. They will not become angry because we finally decided to prioritize our mental health, confidence, or happiness.

Healthy people do not fear your healing.
Only people who benefited from your brokenness do.

That is why discernment matters.

* Pay attention when someone constantly tries to make you feel guilty for growing.
* Pay attention when people only support you when you are struggling but become silent when you are thriving.
* Pay attention when your confidence offends people who were comfortable with your insecurity.

Sometimes the discomfort has nothing to do with us becoming arrogant. Sometimes our healing simply removes access people once had to an unhealthy version of us.

And let us talk about something else honestly.

Healing is not always pretty.

There is a connection with loving others and loving ourselves. Yet so many of us have spent years believing that self-love was selfish, prideful, or unnecessary.

Lessons We Learned

Some of us were taught to pour endlessly into everyone else while ignoring our own emotional wounds, exhaustion, and sadness. We learned how to survive while secretly feeling unworthy, overlooked, and disconnected from ourselves. We became comfortable giving grace to everyone around us while criticizing the woman in the mirror. But God never asked us to hate ourselves in order to love others well.

What is self-love?

Self-love is not arrogance. It is not believing we are better than anyone else. It is understanding that we were created with value, purpose, and worth. It is speaking to ourselves with kindness instead of cruelty. It is allowing ourselves to rest without guilt. It is choosing not to stay connected to environments and people who constantly damage our peace, confidence, and emotional well-being.

When we love ourselves unconditionally, we stop begging for acceptance from people who benefit from our insecurity. We stop shrinking to make others comfortable. We stop allowing people to convince us that boundaries are wrong simply because our boundaries no longer allow them unlimited access to us.

Attentiveness to Connections

That is why it is important to pay attention anytime someone challenges the healthy way we love ourselves. Not every opinion deserves space in our hearts. If someone becomes angry because we are healing, setting boundaries, resting, growing, or finally seeing our worth, we have to honestly ask ourselves an important question: What benefit did they receive from the version of us that lacked self-love?

That question may feel uncomfortable, but it reveals a lot.

Some connections are healthy and supportive. Those people celebrate our growth. They encourage us to take care of ourselves emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. They do not punish us for choosing peace. They do not shame us for protecting our hearts. They understand that a healthy relationship should never require us to abandon ourselves.

Other connections survive only when we are emotionally drained, insecure, overextending ourselves, or constantly proving our worth. Those relationships often become threatened when we begin loving ourselves in a healthier way. Suddenly, our “no” becomes a problem. Our confidence becomes intimidating. Our healing becomes inconvenient.

A Lesson from Jesus!

Jesus never taught us to destroy ourselves for the comfort of others. Loving our neighbors “as ourselves” suggests that there should already be care, compassion, and value within how we see ourselves. We cannot continuously pour from an empty place and expect to feel emotionally healthy.

Self-love allows us to show up differently in life. We communicate better. We choose healthier relationships. We recognize when something is harming our peace. We stop attaching our worth to rejection, comparison, or performance. We begin understanding that we deserve the same gentleness we so freely give away to others.

Today, give yourself permission to love who you are without shame. Speak kindly to yourself. Protect your peace. Honor your healing. And never allow someone to make you feel guilty for loving yourself in a way that brings you closer to emotional freedom, confidence, and peace.

You are worthy of unconditional love too.

With Love & Care,

Let’s be honest with ourselves for a moment. Not the polished answer. Not the Instagram caption. The real one we only admit in quiet moments.

The year didn’t just start for the sake of starting. This month wasn’t about cute words, planners, or saying “this is my year” out loud. This month was about laying a foundation. And foundations matter, because whatever we build on top of them is only as stable as what we put underneath.

So here’s the real question: what have we actually done differently?

Not what we planned to do.
Not what we meant to do.
What have we intentionally done to care for ourselves, protect ourselves, and love ourselves better?

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned how to pour endlessly while ignoring the empty cup in our own hands. We learned how to show up strong, reliable, and available—even when we were tired, overwhelmed, and emotionally stretched thin. And then we wondered why we felt resentful, drained, and unseen.

That’s not strength. That’s survival mode.

And survival mode will run us straight into burnout if we don’t interrupt it.

Self-Care Is Not Soft—It’s Necessary

We need to clear something up. Self-care is not bubble baths and candles when everything else is falling apart. Real self-care is often uncomfortable. It asks us to disappoint people. It asks us to pause when we’re used to pushing. It asks us to say “no” when we’ve built an identity around always saying “yes.”

And let’s be real—saying “no” can feel scary when we’re used to being needed.

But boundaries are not rejection.
Boundaries are protection.
And protection is an act of wisdom, not selfishness.

Scripture reminds us of this in Proverbs 4:23:
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Guarding our heart doesn’t mean we stop loving. It means we stop abandoning ourselves in the process of loving others.

If we don’t guard our time, our energy, and our emotional space, someone else will gladly use them up. Not always intentionally. Not always maliciously. But consistently.

Comfort Zones Can Keep Us Stuck

Let’s talk about comfort zones for a second. A comfort zone doesn’t always feel good—it just feels familiar. Over-explaining. Over-committing. Over-giving. Over-functioning. We know how to do those things well. They’ve kept us accepted, appreciated, and praised.

But familiar doesn’t always mean healthy.

Growth asks us to do something different. To pause before saying yes. To check in with ourselves before agreeing to things that drain us. To stop carrying responsibilities that were never ours to begin with.

And yes, that will feel awkward at first.

But 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us:
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Choosing ourselves doesn’t make us weak. It makes us honest about our limits. And grace meets us right there.

Let’s Get Real About “Doing Better”

Doing better doesn’t mean becoming a whole new person overnight. It means becoming more aware of the patterns that keep us tired, frustrated, and emotionally off balance.

Doing better means:

Resting before we’re completely exhausted

Speaking up instead of swallowing discomfort

Walking away from things that cost us our peace

It means recognizing that we can love deeply and still choose distance. We can be kind and still be firm. We can be compassionate without self-betrayal.

And yes—sometimes doing better means admitting we’ve ignored ourselves for too long.

That moment of honesty is not shame. It’s clarity.

And clarity gives us power.

Love Yourself to Life Is a Daily Choice

Here’s the truth many of us don’t want to face: self-love is not a one-time decision. It’s a daily practice. It’s choosing ourselves in the middle of real life, real responsibilities, and real expectations.

Love Yourself to life means we stop waiting for permission to care about our own well-being. It means we treat our mental and emotional health as essential, not optional.

Scripture affirms this balance in Matthew 22:39:
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

That verse assumes we love ourselves too.

Three Action Steps We Can Take—Starting This Week

Let’s move from reflection to action. Here are three intentional steps we can take right now to strengthen the foundation we’ve started building.

1. Practice the Pause Before Saying Yes

Before committing to anything, pause and ask: Do I actually have the capacity for this? If the answer is no, honor that without guilt. A delayed response is better than a resentful yes.

2. Create One Non-Negotiable Boundary

Choose one boundary that protects your peace—whether it’s a time boundary, an emotional boundary, or a communication boundary—and commit to keeping it. No over-explaining. No apology tour.

3. Schedule One Thing That Restores You

Not something productive. Not something for someone else. Something that brings you calm, joy, or clarity. Put it on your calendar like it matters—because it does.

This Is About Sustainability, Not Perfection

We’re not aiming for perfection. We’re aiming for stability. Emotional stability. Mental clarity. A life that doesn’t constantly feel like we’re running on empty.

And yes, we may stumble. We may catch ourselves slipping back into old habits. That doesn’t mean we failed. It means we’re learning.

What matters is that we notice. That we adjust. That we keep choosing ourselves—even when it feels unfamiliar.

Love Yourself to life isn’t a slogan. It’s a commitment to stop living on fumes and start living with intention.

So if this reflection stirred something in us—good. Let it. Let it move us to do better, choose wiser, and protect what matters most.

We deserve a life that feels steady, supported, and emotionally safe. And it starts with what we choose today.

With Love & Support,

Today is Day 3 of Before the Ball Drops, where we pause together to choose light even when emotional weight feels heavy, honoring hope, faith, and self-care as we prepare our hearts to step forward into a new year.

Depression is heavier still. It can drain color from life and make even simple moments feel distant. Depression often lies to us about our worth and our purpose. It can convince us that nothing will change and that hope is unrealistic. Yet Lamentations 3:22–23 tells us that mercy is renewed daily. That means even on days when energy is low and motivation feels absent, grace is still present.

This season is not about pretending everything is fine before the calendar changes. It’s about honesty. Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us there is a time for everything—a time to weep, a time to heal, a time to rebuild. Reflection before a new year isn’t weakness; it’s wisdom.

One of the most loving things we can do for ourselves is to pause and ask, “What emotional weight am I holding that no longer serves me?” Not every burden belongs in the next chapter. Isaiah 26:3 reminds us that peace is connected to trust, not control. Releasing emotional heaviness creates room for clarity, rest, and renewal.

Prayer plays a powerful role here. Prayer is not about having perfect words. It’s about showing up honestly. God meets us in truth, not performance. When we speak openly about our sadness, anxiety, and depression, we invite God into places we may have tried to manage alone. Psalm 55:22 encourages us to cast our cares on the Lord, trusting that He will sustain us.

Take some time to watch today’s video and do some self-reflection.

It shows up as overthinking, tight shoulders, racing thoughts, or difficulty resting even when things are quiet. Anxiety convinces us that peace is unsafe and control is necessary. Over time, it weakens self-love by teaching us to doubt our intuition and question our worth when we cannot “hold it together.” Anxiety also steals the future by keeping us stuck in imagined outcomes that never arrive. Yet awareness changes everything.

When we slow our breathing, ground our bodies, and speak truth to our thoughts, anxiety softens. Choosing compassion over criticism helps us rebuild trust within. With support, faith, and patience, we learn that safety comes from presence, not perfection. Our future opens when we choose calm moments repeatedly, allowing peace to lead, strengthen, and guide us forward, gently, confidently.

Anxiety is different. It lives in the future. It keeps us rehearsing conversations, bracing for outcomes, and struggling to rest. Anxiety convinces us that if we stop thinking, planning, or controlling, something will fall apart. Philippians 4:6–7 gently reminds us that peace comes when we release what overwhelms us into God’s hands. Anxiety may speak loudly, but it does not get the final word.

Below is the video focused on this topic. Let’s learn to release anxiety and not allow it to control our emotions and response to the future.

As the year comes to a close, there’s a quiet moment many of us avoid. It’s the moment when the noise settles, the celebrations pause, and we are left alone with ourselves. That space can feel uncomfortable because it brings emotions we’ve been managing, minimizing, or pushing aside. Yet this pause is sacred. It’s an invitation to check what we’re carrying and decide what deserves to cross over with us into a new year.

What is S.A.D.?

Many of us are familiar with feeling S.A.D.—sadness, anxiety, and depression. These emotions don’t always arrive dramatically. Sometimes they build slowly, tucked behind productivity, strength, and survival. We learn how to function with heaviness and call it normal. But just because something is common doesn’t mean it’s healthy.

Over the next few days, I will be releasing a video series focused on the elements S.A.D. For now, download the journal below and watch the first video focused on the element of sadness. Sadness reminds us that something mattered. It’s often connected to loss, disappointment, unmet hopes, or changes we didn’t ask for. When sadness is ignored, it quietly reshapes our inner voice. We start telling ourselves to “get over it” instead of offering compassion. Scripture reminds us in Psalm 34:18 that God is close to the brokenhearted. That closeness tells us sadness is not a flaw—it’s a place where care is needed.

VIDEO SERIES 1

Before the Ball Drops: Releasing the Quiet Sadness We Learned to Carry

Carrying sadness, anxiety, and depression unchecked into a new year quietly shapes how we show up. It affects how we love ourselves, how we see our future, and how open we are to joy. When these emotions go unaddressed, they can cause us to shrink our dreams, lower our expectations, and disconnect from God, others, and ourselves. But acknowledging them creates a different outcome.

Action matters too. Reflection without movement can leave us stuck. That’s why pairing intentional journaling with meaningful reflection creates transformation. Writing slows the mind, clarifies emotions, and allows us to see patterns we may have overlooked. It also gives us space to respond instead of react.

To support this process, journal pages created specifically for this reflective experience are available for download through the link included in this blog. These pages are designed to align with the video series and help guide daily reflection, prayer, and emotional release. Using them alongside each video allows the work to move from inspiration into real-life application.

DOWNLOAD YOUR JOURNAL

Before the Ball Drops Journal

The goal is not perfection. The goal is progress, awareness, and care. We don’t heal by rushing. We heal by listening—to God, to our bodies, and to our inner voice. Matthew 11:28 reminds us that rest is offered, not earned. When we allow ourselves to receive that rest, we step into the new year lighter.

This is a moment to choose yourself without apology. To choose healing over habit. To choose honesty over hiding. To choose hope over heaviness. God’s desire is not for us to survive emotionally, but to live fully, connected, and free.

As the year closes, let this be a turning point. Not because everything is resolved, but because you decided not to carry S.A.D. forward unchecked. With prayer, reflection, support, and intentional action, what once felt heavy can become manageable—and eventually, lighter.

The new year doesn’t require a new version of you. It invites a more cared-for one.

Stay tuned for the videos series on YouTube: Before the Ball Drops: Clearing Emotional Weight We Were Never Meant to Carry.

This blog includes my viewpoint on several of Pastor Kelly’s key points.

1. God Will Interrupt Our Familiar With His Favor

There is something comforting about what we know. The familiar routines. The relationships we understand, even when they stretch us thin. The roles we have mastered just enough to survive. Familiarity gives us a sense of control, and for many of us, control feels like safety. But sometimes what feels safe is quietly keeping us small.

Pastor Kevin Kelly’s sermon, God Will Interrupt Your Familiar With His Favor, speaks directly to the tension many of us are living in right now. We are praying for more—more peace, more clarity, more purpose—while holding tightly to what we already know. And God, in His loving and intentional way, steps in and interrupts.

Not to harm us.
Not to confuse us.
But to favor us.

2. God Doesn’t Need Our Status to Release His Favor

We often believe we need to become more before God can do more. More accomplished. More confident. More put together. More healed. More worthy.

But God does not wait for titles, positions, or polished lives to release His favor. His favor is not a reward for perfection. It is an expression of love.

Many of us wake up carrying quiet insecurities. We compare ourselves to others who seem ahead, stronger, or more settled. We question whether our voice matters, whether our past disqualifies us, or whether we waited too long to start again. Yet God’s favor moves independently of our résumé.

This truth invites us into self-love that is rooted, not performative. We can stop striving to prove we deserve what God has already decided to give. We can breathe. We can show up as we are. We can trust that God sees beyond labels and limitations.

When we begin to believe this, our confidence shifts. We stop shrinking. We stop apologizing for our presence. We stop disqualifying ourselves before God ever does.

3. God’s Favor Will Disrupt Our Comfort

Favor is beautiful, but it is rarely comfortable.

God’s favor often disturbs what we have grown used to. It shakes routines, exposes complacency, and calls us forward when we would rather stay still. Comfort keeps us familiar with survival. Favor introduces growth.

Many of us have learned how to function inside situations that no longer nourish us. We have mastered endurance. We know how to smile while hurting and keep going while feeling unseen. But God does not confuse endurance with abundance.

When God interrupts our comfort, it can feel unsettling. Familiar spaces begin to feel tight. Conversations change. Desires shift. What once felt manageable now feels misaligned. This is not loss. This is movement.

God’s favor stretches us toward a future that requires trust. And trust often feels uncomfortable before it feels freeing.

4. God Will Interrupt Our Familiar Without Favor Assurance

One of the hardest parts of God’s interruption is that He does not always explain Himself.

We want clarity before obedience. Assurance before action. A detailed plan before we say yes. But God often interrupts our familiar without giving us a guarantee of how everything will unfold.

This can be deeply challenging, especially when we have been hurt before. Many of us want certainty because we have experienced disappointment. We want to protect our hearts. We want to be sure we will not fail again.

Yet faith is not built on visible outcomes. It is built on relationship.

God’s favor invites us to trust His character even when we cannot trace His steps. It invites us to believe that what He is doing in us matters, even when the process feels unclear.

In these moments, self-love becomes sacred. We speak gently to ourselves. We honor our fears without letting them lead. We choose courage over comfort, knowing God is present in the unknown.

5. God’s Interruption of Favor Is Bigger Than Us

God never interrupts our familiar for our benefit alone.

His favor carries purpose beyond what we can see. What He does in us will ripple outward—to our families, our communities, and the people who are watching us quietly choose faith.

When God shifts our direction, it may feel personal, but it is also purposeful. Our obedience opens doors for others. Our healing creates space for hope. Our growth becomes a testimony.

This truth helps us release pressure. We do not have to carry everything alone. God’s favor is not dependent on our strength. It is sustained by His.

Understanding this allows us to walk forward with humility and confidence. We can trust that God is intentional. That nothing is wasted. That even the interruption has meaning.

6. God’s Interruption of Favor Ought to Lead Us to Praise

Praise is not reserved for moments when everything makes sense.

Praise is our response to trust.

When God interrupts our familiar, praise reminds us who is in control. It anchors us when emotions fluctuate. It re-centers our hearts on gratitude rather than fear.

Praise shifts our perspective. We stop asking, “Why is this happening?” and begin asking, “What is God shaping in us through this?”

Praise is not denial. It is alignment.

And when we choose praise, our confidence grows. Our faith deepens. Our outlook expands. We begin to see ourselves as active participants in God’s plan, not passive recipients of circumstances.

Making This Message Personal

Many of us are standing at the edge of something new, even if we cannot name it yet. We feel the restlessness. The quiet nudge. The sense that what once fit no longer does.

God’s interruption is not rejection. It is redirection.

He is inviting us to trust Him more deeply, love ourselves more fully, and believe that our future holds more than we can imagine.

We are not behind.
We are not forgotten.
We are not disqualified.

We are favored.

Three Gentle Action Steps

1. Release the Need to Qualify Yourself
Speak honestly to yourself this week. When thoughts of inadequacy arise, pause and remind yourself that God’s favor is not earned. Let this truth reshape how you see yourself and your worth.

2. Pay Attention to Discomfort Without Resisting It
Notice areas of restlessness or dissatisfaction. Instead of rushing to fix or ignore them, ask God what He may be inviting you to release or embrace. Growth often begins with awareness.

3. Practice Praise Before Proof
Choose moments of gratitude even when answers feel incomplete. Praise builds trust and shifts your focus from fear to faith, strengthening your confidence in what God is doing.

Closing Reflection

God will interrupt our familiar—not to unsettle us, but to elevate us. His favor is intentional, expansive, and deeply personal. As we learn to trust Him, love ourselves well, and look forward with hope, we begin to walk with greater confidence and peace.

What God is doing in us matters.
Where He is leading us matters.
And we are worthy of the future He is preparing.

Let us trust the interruption.

Let’s talk about peace.

Peace is something we often chase, but in November, I want us to invite peace instead of chasing it. Peace is not found in perfect circumstances. Peace is found in alignment. When we are aligned with what we need, who we are becoming, and the truth we hold deep inside, peace becomes natural.

Peace isn’t loud. Peace doesn’t announce itself. Peace simply arrives when we clear out the chaos we’ve carried for too long.

This month, peace becomes our priority.

Let’s talk about boundaries.

Boundaries are not punishments. They are protection.
They are the guardrails that keep our hearts safe and our spirits steady.
And honestly, some of us have been too available to people who drain us, too accessible to situations that overwhelm us, and too open to energies that don’t honor us.

Nourish Yourself November requires honesty about what we can and cannot handle.

If something steals our joy, we create distance.
If someone drains our emotional energy, we create limits.
If an environment exhausts us, we reevaluate our involvement.
If an expectation is unrealistic, we give ourselves permission to say no.
If a pattern repeats itself, we stop ignoring it.

We honor ourselves by setting boundaries that uphold our peace.

Let’s talk about gratitude.

Gratitude changes everything—but not because it erases hardship. Gratitude helps us see clearly. Gratitude reminds us that even in the storm, God still shows up. Gratitude helps us hold onto hope while honoring our healing. Gratitude strengthens us without pressuring us to pretend.

This month, gratitude becomes one of our nourishment tools.

We take time to appreciate the small wins, the quiet blessings, the unexpected moments of joy, the friendships that hold us together, the inner strength we didn’t know we had, and the future God is shaping with us, not just for us.

Let’s talk about rest.

Rest is not a luxury. It’s a necessity.
Rest is not earned. It’s needed.
Rest is not weakness. It’s wisdom.

In November, we stop sacrificing our well-being to keep up with demands that do not honor us. We stop glorifying exhaustion. We stop believing the lie that busyness equals value. We stop running ourselves into the ground to prove loyalty to people or responsibilities that pull more from us than they give.

We choose rest because we deserve to feel whole.

Let’s talk about reclaiming ourselves.

We have lost pieces of ourselves over the years—pieces taken by heartbreak, seasons of stress, trauma, disappointments, relationships that drained us, environments that didn’t see us, and moments where we silenced our own needs.

This month, we begin calling those pieces back.

We reclaim our laughter.
We reclaim our softness.
We reclaim our sense of worth.
We reclaim our inner strength.
We reclaim our identity.
We reclaim our joy.
We reclaim the parts of us that we thought were lost for good.

November becomes the month we return home to ourselves.

Let’s talk about love.

Not romantic love.
Not conditional love.
Not love that asks us to shrink or change.

I’m talking about the love that lifts, heals, nourishes, restores, and awakens us.
Love that feels like truth.
Love that comes from within.
Love that aligns with who we are becoming.

This month, we love ourselves with intention.
We love ourselves with compassion.
We love ourselves with honesty.
We love ourselves back to life.

Let’s talk about becoming.

We are not the same women we were a year ago.
Life has stretched us.
Life has shifted us.
Life has shaped us.
Life has matured us.
Life has softened us in some places and strengthened us in others.

This November, we honor the woman we once were, the woman we are today, and the woman we are becoming. All three deserve love.

Let’s talk about community.

Even in a month of self-nourishment, connection still matters. We need safe people. We need uplifting conversations. We need environments that pour into us the way we pour into others.

This month, we surround ourselves with people who speak life, who bring peace, who offer encouragement, who respect our growth, and who honor our healing.

In closing…

Nourish Yourself November is not about perfection. It’s about care.
It’s not about proving anything. It’s about receiving what you need.
It’s not about chasing love. It’s about learning to give it to yourself fully.

We are choosing softness.
We are choosing peace.
We are choosing joy.
We are choosing rest.
We are choosing ourselves—without apology.

This month, we nourish ourselves so intentionally that healing becomes natural and peace becomes familiar.

And that, my love, is how we love ourselves to life in November.

Part 1

November always carries a quiet power. The air shifts. The light softens. Life slows down just enough for us to hear the truth our hearts have been whispering for months. And when we finally pause long enough to notice it, we recognize how tired we are. Not the kind of tired that sleep alone fixes—but the kind that builds up from years of pouring into everything and everyone except ourselves.

This month, I want us to look at November through a different lens. Not the holiday rush. Not the pressure to wrap up the year strong. Not the guilt of unfinished goals or unmet expectations. No. I want us to see November as an invitation to be nourished—deeply, intentionally, lovingly.

Because the truth is, many of us have been living on emotional fumes while still calling it strength. We wake up exhausted, push through our days, hold our families together, show up to work, support friends, encourage others, and stay strong even when our own world feels unsteady. We pray, we smile, we encourage, we uplift… and sometimes we forget that we need the same tenderness we freely give everyone else.

November is our chance to reclaim that tenderness.

Let’s start with honesty.

We’ve survived heartbreaks, grief, disappointments, betrayals, unexpected transitions, seasons of loneliness, and quiet moments of self-doubt. We’ve navigated emotional storms that nobody saw. We’ve been strong so long that we’ve forgotten that strength also requires rest. And in the middle of tending to everyone else’s needs, we’ve allowed our own needs to become background noise.

But this month, I want us to turn the volume up on our own lives.

I want us to listen to our bodies, our spirits, our minds, our hearts. I want us to become more aware of what drains us and what fills us. I want us to recognize that loving ourselves to life means we must nurture ourselves with the same intentionality we’ve spent years offering to others.

Self-love is not an accessory. It is survival. And in November, survival blossoms into nourishment.

What does nourishment look like?

It looks like acknowledging your feelings without apologizing for them.
It looks like giving yourself permission to rest without calling it laziness.
It looks like choosing the slow moment over the rushed one.
It looks like celebrating yourself without waiting for a special occasion.
It looks like saying “I matter” in real, tangible, everyday ways.

Nourishment is not always glamorous. Sometimes it looks like turning off your phone for a few hours. Sometimes it looks like cooking yourself a meal and eating it slowly. Sometimes it looks like sitting in silence long enough to breathe without anxiety tagging along. And sometimes nourishment looks like crying because you need to release what you’ve held on to for too long.

Nourishment isn’t perfect. It’s personal.

This is Nourish Yourself November.

It’s not a challenge. Not a trend. Not a cute idea to post about.
It’s a commitment to your emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
It’s a reminder that you deserve softness.
You deserve gentleness.
You deserve peace.
And you deserve the fullness of love—the love you’ve poured into others for years.

This month, we are stepping into a new relationship with ourselves. We are letting go of guilt. We are releasing the pressure to be “strong” all the time. We are embracing a calm, steady, loving approach to our days. We are opening ourselves to joy again—not the loud, performative kind, but the quiet joy that finds you in your living room with a warm blanket and a thankful heart.

Three simple ways we will nourish ourselves this month:

1. Give yourself grace daily.

Grace is not earned. It’s received. And too often, we give grace to others while withholding it from ourselves. We replay mistakes, analyze conversations, judge our own progress, criticize our choices, and hold ourselves hostage to unrealistic expectations.

But in November, we shift that.

We practice grace in real time.
Grace for our healing process.
Grace for our emotions.
Grace for our needs.
Grace for our boundaries.
Grace for the days that feel heavy, the hours that feel long, and the moments where we don’t have the answers.

Grace doesn’t mean perfection. Grace means compassion, patience, and understanding toward ourselves as we grow.

2. Pay attention to what your body is saying.

Our bodies speak loudly even when our mouths stay silent. Tight shoulders are a warning. A heavy chest is a message. Sleepless nights are a cry for relief. A racing mind is a sign of overload. Fatigue is not normal—it is information.

This month, we listen to our bodies without ignoring or excusing the signs.
If we need rest, we rest.
If we need quiet, we seek solitude.
If we need laughter, we create space for joy.
If we need professional support, we honor that need without shame.

Our wellness depends on our willingness to respond to ourselves with love.

3. Choose joy on purpose.

Joy isn’t an accident. It’s a decision.
And sometimes we have to choose it even when everything around us tries to convince us otherwise.

Joy can be simple.
A warm cup of tea.
A good book.
A peaceful walk.
A real conversation.
A hug that feels like home.
A moment of gratitude.
A burst of laughter.
A favorite song.
A reminder that we are held by God even when life feels unstable.

Joy doesn’t ignore pain—it coexists with it and gently pushes us forward.

Stay tuned for part 2

With Nourishment & Love,

Sometimes the most powerful step is to pause. Rest isn’t optional—it’s essential. Whether we take a short nap, steal away for a quiet weekend, or plan a longer break, stepping back can give us the clarity and strength we need.

Reach Out for Support

We don’t have to navigate hard moments alone. Leaning on our friends, family, or a therapist can lift some of the emotional weight off our shoulders. Opening up gives us room to breathe and see things differently.

Reevaluate Our Priorities

Being stretched thin often signals that something needs realignment. What truly matters to us? Are we spending our time on the things that honor our values and goals? Sometimes small shifts bring big relief.

Set Realistic Expectations

We sometimes carry expectations that are simply too heavy for the moment we’re in. Let’s check in with ourselves. Are our goals reasonable right now? Adjusting expectations doesn’t mean we’re giving up—it means we’re honoring our humanity.

Break Tasks Into Manageable Steps

Anything can feel impossible when we view it as one giant task. Breaking things down into smaller steps allows us to move forward without feeling overwhelmed.

Seek Professional Help

If our emotions or circumstances feel too heavy to manage, it’s okay—and wise—to reach out for professional support. Therapists and counselors can help us develop strategies to move through tough seasons.

Practice Mindfulness and Meditation

Mindfulness helps us stay grounded. Meditation teaches us to breathe, slow down, and quiet the noise long enough to regain balance. These practices strengthen our resilience over time.

Exercise and Nutrition

Our physical well-being feeds into our emotional strength. Movement, nourishing food, and hydration give our bodies and minds what they need to stay steady.

Explore Creative Outlets

Creativity heals. Writing, painting, singing, crafting—whatever allows our hearts to speak—can help us release emotion and rediscover joy.

Learn to Say No

Overcommitting is a quiet thief of peace. Saying no is not selfish—it’s protection. Boundaries help us preserve our energy and our mental well-being.

Find Inspiration and Role Models

When we feel stuck, witnessing others who overcame great challenges can remind us that resilience lives in us too. Their stories light the way.

Seek Solitude and Reflection

We need space to think, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves. Quiet moments help us understand what we feel and why we feel it.

Explore New Hobbies and Interests

Trying something new brings fresh excitement into our lives. New skills and interests spark creativity and remind us that life still holds beauty.

Set Small, Achievable Goals

Small wins fuel us. Achievable goals—no matter how minor—help rebuild our confidence.

Practice Gratitude

Even in difficulty, there’s always something to be grateful for. When we pause to notice the good, our perspective shifts in meaningful ways.

Embrace Change

Sometimes reaching the end of our rope is the sign that change is necessary. Being open to new directions or possibilities can lead us toward healing and renewal.

When we’ve poured out everything we have and feel completely depleted, we must remember: this is not the end. This is a moment of pause, reflection, and rebuilding. With compassion for ourselves, support from others, and openness to new paths, we can rise again with strength we didn’t know we had. Life will always bring its ups and downs, but it’s often in the hard places that we discover who we truly are—and how deeply we’re capable of rising.
